The best dishes, not the best restaurants

A 4.2-star place can serve an ordinary paella and an unforgettable cheesecake. On Platísimo people rate the dish, with a photo and a score, so you know what to order and not just where to sit.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick the restaurant

Platísimo sees where you are and shows you what's next to you. No typing.

  2. 2

Rate the dish with a photo

Stars, a photo and a line if you feel like it. Thirty seconds between two coffees.

  3. 3

    Discover the best dishes nearby

Every rating sorts the neighbourhood: the best tortilla ten minutes' walk away, not the best bar.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Platísimo?

An app for finding good dishes, not good restaurants. People rate a specific dish at a specific place — Casa Pepe's tortilla, not Casa Pepe — with a score from 1 to 5 and a photo, and from that we build lists like “the best tortilla in Madrid”.

  • How is the score calculated?

It's the average of published ratings, pulled towards its category's average while there are still few, so a dish with a single 5 doesn't overtake one with fifty ratings of 4.6. Recent ratings weigh more, and a dish with few ratings carries the “few ratings” label so you know its score can still move.

How we calculate the score, with examples

  • Is it free?

Yes, and it will stay free for people who use the app. There's no subscription, we don't sell your data and we don't take money to move a dish up a list. If we ever charge, it will be restaurants, for their own tools, never for changing the order of a ranking.

  • How are ratings moderated?

Anyone can report a rating, a photo or a dish from the “⋯” button, and a person on the team reviews it. There are per-account daily limits against spam, and a hidden rating stops counting towards the score. What we never do is delete an opinion for being negative: we remove what's false, offensive or not about the dish.

  • Who's behind it?

A small Spanish project, made by Pablo Cañardo. No investors, no advertising and an open inbox: if something's wrong, write to us and we'll fix it.
